The Enquirer - Deaf, blind sought for police training

Cincinnati police are looking for deaf and blind people to take part in their next citizens police academy.

Apply by March 16 for the next session, which starts March 28 and continues for eight consecutive Wednesdays.

Sign-language interpreters will be there and audiotapes will be given to blind participants.

The class teaches about officers' daily work as well as about gangs, personal safety and drugs. The department has previously done specialized citizens academies classes for people who speak Spanish and people with mental illness.

Apply by calling the police academy, 357-7554.
