Local News | Deaf-blind awareness event at library | Seattle Times Newspaper
Saturday is Deaf-Blind Awareness Day, a day set aside to acknowledge deaf-blind individuals in our communities and to honor author, lecturer, and deaf and blind activist Helen Keller.
It will be a day of hands-on activities: People can don special low-vision glasses and wear ear plugs to experience the daily obstacles and everyday sensations of those who are deaf and blind.
The event will be at the Seattle Public Library's Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday on levels 3 and 4.
The gathering also will focus on how deaf-blind individuals deal with employment and education.
For more information and for a schedule of activities and programs, visit The Seattle Public Library: Seattle Public Library Home Page or call 206-386-4690.
