Is their anyone out there who is deaf, and has to use a stethoset? This is the device that is used to listen to hearing aids. However, since I am a hearing aid user myself, I can't put the stethoset in my ears to listen to the other person's hearing aid. The stethoset is just like a stethoscope... Does anyone have a solution to this???
I use it daily in my work. (Deaf Education) This is the first time I'll have a name for the thing now!

(I always called it a wierd stethoscope thingie!) It helps to have residual hearing to use the stethoset. Obviously, some HA's that I test out are lower in volume than what I use for my current HA. Sometimes, I'll raise the volume setting, test out the HA, and then restore the volume setting to its prior level. As long as I can hear the volume in testing out the HA's, I'm okay in using the stethoset.
Obviously, in your field, audiology, I suspect accuracy is more important in using the stethoset, other than testing out the volume levels. If that is the case, then perhaps you'll have to adjust the testing regimen somehow. Perhaps an audiologist can clear this up.
Also, I just remembered something; Not very helpful, I'm afraid... I test BTE's, and they have plenty of power to spare. I suspect in your field, you'll have to test out CIC's and other low-powered HA units, often with fixed volume settings. Not even I can test out these units as I don't have enough residual hearing. Hopefully you'll find a workable technological solution.
