Deaf and Hearing Relationships

I get asked all the time by my wifes friends that are deaf how to help them make their relationship better??? My answer is always that it does not matter that I am hearing and my wife is deaf just like it does not matter that they are deaf and their bf/gf are hearing all relationships take time and effort and communication between each other. I know that when I say that they are like but its hard to communicate because they are deaf and the other person is hearing. They say that my wife is lucky that Know sign language good but the fact is 7 years ago when we started dating all I could do is finger spellI did not know any sign language and I still learn and have to ask my wife about different signs everyday. But in the end it is If you really care about each other you will always take the time and effort to work through all differences. So i want to know what others opinions are on Hearing/Deaf Relationships.
