Deaf And Blind Dog Patrick Has His Day (from Daily Echo)
THEY say every dog has its day - and that was certainly true for blind and deaf Patrick, who was left terrified and confused after being abandoned by his owner last month.
Following an appeal in the Daily Echo to find him a new home, a couple from the Isle of Wight stepped forward and rehoused him.
Patrick was taken into Second Chance Animal Rescue Centre in Mansbridge, Southampton, last month after a concerned member of the public found him wandering the streets of Winchester.
Now he is starting a new life with Anne and Graham Wells at Bembridge.
Since arriving at the rescue centre Patrick has had an operation on one of his eyes to restore 75 per cent of his sight - an operation paid for by donations that came pouring in after the story featured in the Daily Echo.
Rose Milne, rescue co-ordinator at Second Chance Animal Rescue, said: "He's so much happier since the operation and I would like to thank all the readers who have donated towards the cost of the operation because without it he would be a very unhappy dog.
"I'm sorry to see him go."
