The List of Names of Deaf People Lost to AIDS began in 1989 as a way to remember the many special people we've lost to AIDS and HIV-related complications. This website originally launched in 1995 under a different domain.

It is our hope that this website can serve not only as a tribute, but also as an awareness and educational tool.

AIDS is still very real and whether you are D/deaf, hearing, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transsexual, transgender, intersex or straight -- AIDS does not discriminate. The names that you see on this website come from different age, economic, sexual orientations, ethnic, racial and cultural groups.

If you know of a missing name, or have an obituary or photo of any of the names listed, please submit it. We plan to eventually add obituaries and photos to this site.

To our knowledge, this is the most complete List of names of Deaf people we've lost to AIDS. No list, however, could possibly list all of the people we've lost. Everyday, AIDS continues to claim those we love.

We can keep their memory alive this way! The issue of living with HIV or AIDS is very much alive and well in our community even though existing medications have prolong lives and brought HIV viral loads to way down to undetectable levels and immune cells of normal functioning.

As for those who passed on, let's remember them always and others who struggling today to live without prejudice and infamy because of their condition(s).

Thank you for posting this. Still far too many wonderful people are being lost to this disease every day. We need to remember.
