Popular event will benefit the Deaf Action Center.
Las Vegas Nite 2007!
What a glittery evening.
The benefit for Betty and Leonard Phillips Deaf Action Center will be held Saturday at The Cambridge Club. American Airlines/American Eagle sponsors the event, while the Cambridge hosts it and provides the buffet and open bar.
Guests will be given $250 in chips to play blackjack, craps and roulette. Professional dealers are provided by Eldorado Casino and Hotel.
"Guests may use their table winnings at one of the silent auctions," said DAC director of development Greg Hebert.
David Goodman, of Chicago, will preside over the live auction and there will be two silent ones.
Among the auction items:
n "Mad Money" package: American Airlines/American Eagle will fly four to Los Angeles for the premiere of "Mad Money" starring Katie Holmes, Queen Latifah and Diane Keaton. The movie was filmed in Shreveport. Accommodations for a two-night stay are included with the four VIP passes. The high bidder will also receive a copy of the script autographed by all of the principal actors and a director's chair autographed by Academy Award winning director Callie Khouri.
n Party for 100 at the "Sugar Shack." Alan and Barbara Sugar will open their home to 100 of the high bidder's guests. Food will be catered by John Cariere of the Cotton Boll. The package includes invitations, live auction, live entertainment, flowers and valet parking.
n Deja' Vu for 50. Entertain your favorite groom and 50 of his buddies at a bachelor party provided by Deja Vu.
n "Instant Wine Cellar." The items include dozens of select wines from all over the Shreveport area, a small wine refrigerator and wine-tasting accessories.
n "San Francisco for Two." American Airlines/American Eagle will provide round-trip airfare for two to San Francisco. Also included: a walking tour by Shreveporter Lewis Kalmbach and admission to Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon.
Other items up for grabs include parties at Delton Harrison's home and at Giuseppe's, Chianti, Superior Steakhouse; jewelry from an array of stores; and such beauty offerings as facials, hair styling and dental whitening from various concerns.
