Deaf 7-Eleven manager who was fired awarded $934,000 in discrimination suit

Wow, that's amazing! He'll lose about half of that to taxes, but what a nice little nest egg he will have now.

That's assuming the award will stand up, if 7-Eleven decides to appeal.

I am surprised wow that lots of money lose! crazy news terrible!

Unless the laws have changed recently you do not pay federal taxes on monies awarded for pain, suffering, etc.

Oh really? I didn't know that.

The part that was for lost wages, he will have to pay taxes and Soc. Security on that though, right?

The lion's share was pain and suffering, so assuming the award stands up, that is going to be a great help to him.

I think so government to sue to propery shut down lose on town reason serious! that is very not joke! government caught to propery because lots of sue to law DA reason serious that is why points!

Geez...what's wrong with assholes like this manager? Talk about refusing to meet halfway.

Good for him to file that lawsuit!

Way to go...and kudos to him!....It's very refreshing to see a deafie "stand up for his rights"...and WIN! :D

Not sure. I just know a few years ago a friend of mine received a settlement -- Enough for a down payment on a nice house, and he did not have to pay taxes on it. There were no lost wages involved in his case so I don't know about that.

If I were to guess I would go with, "wages are taxable."
