Cuba Creates Deaf Education Center - Prensa Latina
The creation of a National Deaf Education Center in Cuba marks a new stage in the training of teachers working with hearing impaired people.
The center has an academic program structured according to international innovations in this type of communication.
Director Jorge Ponjuan told the National News Agency teaching will start in the first semester of the current year and includes short-term courses with 120 students.
This center is a first among Latin American nations, and is part of the support the government gives to people seeking larger social equity, the executive said.
Cuba´s National Deaf Association has over 21,000 members, and the necessary conditions to graduate people from several educational levels on the island.
