Crashing saves trucker's life - Yahoo!7
A US truck driver may have saved his own life with an unintentional and very elaborate Heimlich manoeuvre.
Police say 55-year-old Richard Paylor, from Pennsylvania, was eating an apple as he drove on a busy highway when he began choking.
Authorities said Paylor then lost consciousness and crashed through a concrete median strip.
Investigators believe the apple was dislodged when Paylor smacked his chest against the steering wheel.
Initially sceptical, police recovered a chunk of apple from the smashed dashboard.
Doctors backed up their conclusion that the accident dislodged the offending fruit.
