The Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court on Friday issued a notice on the federal secretary for Special Education on a writ petition against the delay in holding intermediate examination for deaf students.

The bench directed the secretary to explain as to why the examination could not be held even after a delay of two years. Khalid Zaman, the petitioner’s counsel, contented that his client, Amjad Zaman, admitted his deaf daughter to the National College for Special Education, Islamabad, in September 2003. However, the examination had not been held even after two years, he added. The counsel requested the court to direct the secretary to ensure the exams were held without further delay.

He also contended that the Special Education Ministry was working at the federal level, but special children were still facing many problems. staff report
