Very Interest that I learned about another Ike! *my other fourm!*

for being totally PO'd with 140,000 people refusing to evacuate Ike, when manditory evacuations were under way for many days.....and NOW many needing rescue, food, water, medical services, lodging ect. and expect Firefighters, Search and Rescue folks, EMS and Red Cross ect. to come risk THEIR lives to get them, feed and shelter them ?
I understand that a small ( very ) number of people couldnt evacuate for some real reason.
( Firefighters, cops, medical personal, utility workers needed to try and save, treat and restore things asap..... ) BUT
why do I not feel like contributing $$$ like I did after Katrina, when people were very unprepared, and little notice was given to leave and no real system was in place to care for those who couldnt ?
In Sep. 5th, 1900 Galveston, TX was wiped out by a hurricane, cat. 4.
7,000 people died. MANY times since then....there has been total devistation in the SAME areas on islands, coastal propertys. Why do the people re-build, then refuse to leave when told to get out, then expect $$$$$$$$$$$ and saving today ?
that 2000 people have had to be rescued since Sat.
Many people are out looking for FOOD and GAS and WATER today. ONE gas station in Housten is open.
OMG, they didnt even have basic supplies on hand ?

what WERE they thinking?
that family had been wiped out in Katrine!!!

and IF YOU STAY, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN!!! means we won't risk our lives to get you or provide food, water and shelter to you after you get STUCK.
