VALRICO, Fla. -- Authorities believe a child's body inside a Hillsborough County septic tank is that of a toddler missing since Friday.
Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office spokesman J.D. Callaway said authorities believe the body located in the septic tank Saturday is that of 2-year-old Luis Martinez, but investigators are waiting on a positive identification from a medical examiner.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has canceled its missing child alert for the toddler, who was last seen Friday.
Callaway said authorities think that the boy fell through a hole in the septic tank.
The medical examiner will perform an autopsy and determine the time and cause of death, Callaway said.
More than 100 volunteers joined in the search for the boy Saturday morning.
