Center Gives Therapy For Deaf Rape Victims - Las Vegas News Story - KVVU Las Vegas
There's a new counseling center to help Las Vegas area rape victims. The Rape Crisis Center had a ribbon cutting ceremony to open Signs of Hope counseling services. It will offer help to victims and their families.
The program is called Signs of Hope because it will also provide therapy to the deaf and to those hard-of-hearing, in American Sign Language.
"We will never turn a client away because of inability to pay, which has always been a dream of mine, because a lot of clients don't get the help that they need because they can't afford services,” said therapist Alyson Shainker.
Payment is offered on a sliding scale, and those who can't afford it can get counseling for free.
Advocates are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for support and to answer questions.
