I tried to read some of these threds but I dont know what SK1 and Sk2 yadayada mean...So anyone have any suggestions for me. It is my boyfriends birthday soon and I was thinking about getting him some sort of cell phone, text messaging, internet surfing gaget. Do any of the deafies here have any good sugestions??? I have asked the stores but they look at me like Im weird for trying to find a product for someone who is deaf...ahhh, Canadains....hehe..

SK1 and SK2 is Sidekick some people like it some people Like the Blackberry. I have neither. Depends on The coverge in your area. My advice shop around and see if you can test it out and find whats best for you. There are numerous oher devices out there besides Sidekick and Blackberry.

jamielee, there are a bunch of questions that you need to answer about your boyfriend's preferences and background in order for us to recommend a best fit phone for you to purchase.
Please list these in the order of preference:
I guess what would really help is if you could arrange the list below from top to bottom as to which is MOST important to least important:
Affordable plan?
Expensive plan with tons of features?
Good coverage?
Good battery life?
Plain vanilla voice service?
Good, CLEAR voice service?
Phone with email access?
Phone with Instant Messenger?
Phone with Web browser?
Picture phone?
Phone with full Keyboard?
Phone in Clamshell shape (folds open, like a flip phone)
Phone in Candy Bar shape? (does not fold, move, or change shape -- what you see is what you get)
What phone accessories do you need? (hands free set, car charger, bluetooth, etc)
Do you need the phone to be T-coil compatible?
Do you need the phone to be TTY compatible?
Do you need the phone to have access to Relay service?
Also:
1) Is your boyfriend deaf or hearing?
2) What city and state will he be using the phone in?
3) Who will he be communicating with the most?
4) Who else may he use the phone to communicate to often or occasionally?
