I own a Panasonic 42" plasma display screen (TH-42PH9), which does NOT have close captioning! Because it does not have a tuner, it is not legally required to have the CC feature. I am a fan of high-end audio and video, and my girlfriend is deaf. I have a DVD player that runs component video cables out to the display. I have been told that I need a captioning box or set top box that has a component in/out feature to enable the decoding of CC, but all that I have found only have a component OUT, but only inferior quality INPUTS. Normally, we just use subtitles on the DVD, however, there are a shocking about of DVDs that only have CC and no English subtitles, making those movies impossible for us to enjoy together! Can anyone recomend a method and/or product for adding CC to my plasma display? I DO NOT want to degrade the integrity of my screen resolution, so cost is not a factor, but I have been totally unable to sort out a solution to this problem.
Basically: How do I add CC to a plasma screen display along a component (3-cable) video line?
Thank you!
