Is there a way to have one internet for two computers? If so how? The reason I ask cuz my sister broke into my room (she crazy man) in the middle of the night to use my pc cuz it got a internet connection. I gotta have my sleep man.

I know this isnt a right area to ask but a lot of members hang out here instead the computer section. So I can get the answers right away before she does this again. Can you mods leave it here for a day thanks.

wireless network

I am not sure about that part. My friend showed me that network a year ago. Again, I am not sure.
If I'm right, you're welcome!!!

Use a router so she gets one on the other computer, but if it gets too much for you, then you can get WinXP installed and lock her out with a password!

Also, Wireless is pretty nifty, but it allows other strangers tap into your internet! So, it is a bunch of pros and cons to think about before going with a plan.

I have a Netgear Router (forgot which model) since last summer. My router can handle one internet for up to 4 computes. One computer for me and my roomate has two computers. Total of 3.

Deaf258's right. WIndowXP is best recommend for DSL/Cable Modem. It should work proper. If Win98 then will not uddy all of the system.

One con is long special wire (for cable modem and similiar to phone line but more color wire). But more cheaper than USB wire. Usually get 25 foot special wire from independent computer store. Few long wires can cause more messy. If you don't mind about long wire, that's fine. Need organize and get "Wire Holder" before any pets start nosey.

And also be sure to have the other computer configured with network settings and may require a network card. Just have to check which configurations would work best for her computer and yours on the router or wireless network.

Hubby and I have a network router -- supports our 2 computers, the kids' 2 computers in back room and one computer at mum and dad's across the backyard in their house!

I have a wireless AT&T Nokia cell phone with a flip-on keyboard for text messaging, but of course, includes an internet on the phone...so I mostly use it to check e-mails

if she just usually check e-mails, then the cell phone with the internet is the perfect choice

Is that right? Wow! Thanks. I can inform my friend. Thanks

Wolf...they suggested a network router. I'm stupid.

Peace

Lock your room, if it doesn't work, try to install something on door that keep it locked instead of doorknob.. Or put the heavy thing that she can't push or lift by your door... You can tell her if she keeps on breaking in, it is illegal and you can call cop on her or throw her out of your room.....

My uncle has that in his house. I can talk to my uncle, aunt, and two cousins all at once...it's kind of funny watching them all go bye-bye at the same time when their internet connection is broken....hahahaha. But yeah, it's doable. You need to network all of the computers, use a router.

I wish I knew specifically how to do it. Might be able to help you more, but hey, I do know it's possible. :)

I agree with most people in here, its better to have a router that connects the computers to one internet connection. (Assuming you're talking about cable) Cause in my house theres 3 of us, and i went and bought a networking card, then they plugged me in, set it up and i was ready to go in like less than an hour. The strange thing about our network is that Megladon's computer is called the "super computer" which means if his computer is off, our internet wont work. I dont know how they did that but its not really a problem, i thought it was cool.

I dont recommend a wireless network, we have one at work and like people say, its risky, easier, but riskier. You really cant go wrong with getting a router and networking cards. You'd also want to get a firewall too, cause you'll be connected to the internet 24/7, and you dont want to be hacked if your computer is on all night (thats what we do...) :D

...or install secuirty cameras, metal detectors, (if his sisters wears any jewerly, ear rings, piereing, etc) or air lock hatchers

:p

If you are on dial-up internet. Forget it, you have to get second telephone line.

If you are on AOL broadband. Forget it, it won't allow you to use router.

Wireless router - Worry about someone tap your wireless? Turn it security on with password when log in.

Alright thanks guys. That really helps.

btw the door was locked she picked it. *grunt*

so buy some kind of special lock that no one would EVER be able to pick on it lol
