Call my mom on VP

I just moved to Texas and my mother is in Alabama and she has the VP ,I bought a laptop with a webcam so she can see her grandson how do I call her from my computer or can I

Just buy her computer or she can get one for herself. I know it's an additional cost but having computer is very useful tools for your mom so she can see more than just a VP, like recieving pictures from her grandson and such.
