I must admit that this story is confusing. Did the Lambs not consult with lawyers at time of their purchase? How did all this happen?

They never bought it at all. They just thought they would be able to, and proceeded with no lawyer and no contract.

It was poor business dealings.

Mr. Boomer had more than five Tim Hortons. I feel sorry for the Lambs. They should have hire a lawyer in the first place if they need to find an agreement to buy the establishment. The lawyer will help them in getting to buy Tim Hortons at Shields, Michigan. It is a shame that they lost their right to buy it.

Yes it did happen in my relative thought they don't need a lawyer. Good enought they lost business and Japanese people took over the business. Uh oh. My relative learned the hard lesson.

Did they pay monthly or annual franchise fees?

From the sound of article they did not pay or buy the store, just some equipment.

why they thought they owned the store is beyond me. It's not cheap buying a franchise or a building.
