Boston School 4 Deaf- can go ahead and sue the nuns and priests

A Suffolk Superior Court judge this week refused to dismiss abuse allegations by nine former students against more than a dozen priests and nuns who worked at the now-closed Boston School for the Deaf in Randolph. 

Judge Margot Botsford rejected the defendants' argument that the claims of physical, sexual and emotional abuse, which allegedly occurred from 1942 to 1977, are barred by the statute of limitations. 
 
Botsford also allowed the plaintiffs to amend their complaint to include allegations that the school's policy of not teaching sign language and punishing students who signed resulted in ``social, cognitive and developmental delays which were the functional equivalent of mental retardation.'' 
 
``It's extremely painful for them to discuss what happened to them when they try to describe what happened,'' said their attorney, Mitchell Garabedian.

It's good to hear they can try and find some closure and justice.
