Roy Hysen, general manager of the Canada Deaflympic Hockey team has recently appointed Jim Vitale, of Bolton, as the head coach of the Canada Deaflympic Hockey Team for the first World Deaf Ice Hockey Championship in Winnipeg, Manitoba next April, 2009.

Vitale has recently coached the Ontario Deaf ice hockey team in Whitby during the seventh Roy Hysen Cup.

In addition, the assistant coaches have been added onto the squad, Gerald McDonald, Winnipeg, Manitoba and Patrick Bergeron of Roxton-Pond, Quebec. They will work along with the Head Coach of the Canada Deaflympic Hockey.
Vitale, 30, is a Level 3 coach and has been behind the bench of several teams in the Greater Toronto Hockey League. He also has been an assistant coach at York University.

He played junior hockey with the Markham Waxers and also had two years with York University under Graham Wise. He operates Vital Hockey Skills in Vaughan.

The Canada Deaflympic team is planning to hold an evaluation camp at Teen Ranch in Caledon starting on September 25.
