Religious Intelligence - News - Bishop dedicates deaf church at centre
THE BISHOP of Birmingham, the Rt Rev David Urquhart, has dedicated the church at the city’s new Deaf Cultural Centre.
Bishop David preached during the dedication service and showed photos of his recent trip to a deaf school in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), which the Birmingham centre has pledged to support financially.
The Rev Andy Delmege, chaplain to deaf people in the diocese of Birmingham, said the service was very moving.
He added: “The pictures of [the Bishop’s] visit to the DRC brought home the accomplishments possible, and we wish to support the school in our prayers and donations.”
The Deaf Church will meet in the Deaf Cultural Centre every Wednesday at 6pm, and once a month on Sunday afternoons.
