BD player add-on for Xbox 360

LOL, that's pretty wild, but I would not be surprised to see that it actually happens. If it does happen, I wonder how much the BD player add-on would be?

It can be under $400 as expected, Read-only of BD (not support burn or rewritten) is cost around under $400 as well, MS is just want low price to compete against PS3.

If it's $200 then I will be shocked.

I doubt it. Microsoft is deeply invested in HD DVD.

Not really, not anymore.

MS is maybe support BD, we need wait til holiday 2007 and see about what happen.

HD-DVD add-on don't sell so well, it won't hit million sold.

This isn't what Microsoft want. What they are trying to do is sabotage the fate of both HD DVD and Blu-ray by supporting HD DVD. This way, they can push for downloadable movies. However, the problem is... the majority of internet users will not want to go ahead with downloadable movies because of storage and bandwidth limits. I don't want to download a 720p 8GB movie, I'll rather have it on an optical disc like DVD or Blu-ray Disc. 1080p movies are quite a sight these days and they take up a lot of space. Anywhere from 15GB to 50GB for a compressed 1080p movie.

Not only to mention the fact that VC-1 is the main encode used for HD DVD movies. VC-1 was developed and patented by Microsoft. It's a form of MPEG-4 and Warner Bros, Universal, Weinstein Company, Paramount use VC-1 on HD DVD. So that's why they are trying their best to keep it that way because they get money from each disc sold because they used VC-1.

and it failed.

As far I am concerned, HD DVD will not win. Ever since January, they haven't won a single week. BD is continuing to outperform the HD DVD software sales on a weekly basis by at least 2 to 1. Blu-ray Disc standalone players are now outselling HD DVD players, not counting the PS3 consoles according to recent statistics. Even with the higher price tag for Blu-ray Disc players, more people are buying Blu-ray Disc players and not HD DVD players.

The upcoming holiday season, Blu-ray Disc is going to take on HD DVD in a big way because of the several summer blockbusters heading for the BD format.

Transformers is basically the best bet HD DVD has at the moment while BD will be getting the Die Hard Trilogy, Die Hard 4, Pirates of the Caribbean 3, The Simpsons Movie, Spider-Man Trilogy, Ratatouille, Close Encounters of the Third Kind (Yes, this is a major release), Santa Clause 3, Lost Season 3, High School Musical 2 (Yes, this one will sold like hot cakes even though I won't buy it), Independence Day, Mr. & Mrs. Smith and many more yet to be announced.

Keep in mind I'm not talking about movies we would like to see, I'm just saying that these titles are popular and are more likely to sell quite a big number of copies on Blu-ray. I'm not counting the neutral titles from Warner Bros. but movies like the Harry Potter set and Ocean's 11/12/13 set will probably sell a lot of copies.

I think that rumor story may be false.

I have never know any console that would add another format. Xbox 360 make first add-in HD-DVD which is ridiculous.

Stay with the format until death!!!
