What: The Aberdeen Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department will be sponsoring a "Basic Sign Language" class. Participants in the classes will have the opportunity to learn about deaf culture and basic elementary signs to begin a conversation with a person who has a hearing disability. The class is open to youth ages 5-12 years of age. Participants in this four-week class will learn how to sign colors, animals, weather and the alphabet along with basic sentences in American Sign Language.

Where: Aberdeen Recreation and Cultural Center (ARCC), 225 Third Ave. S.E.

When: The class runs Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. beginning Oct. 3.

Cost: $18.

Instructor: Molly Taylor.

Deadline: Registration deadline for "Basic Sign Language" class is Thursday.
