Hello, my name is Alex. I am a 21 year old hearing student at Portland State University. I am finishing my second year of ASL in college, I have been taking ASL courses however since 2007. I am a sociology student currently conducting a research project on social bias and hate crimes against deaf people. I chose this topic because amongst all of the research on social bias against races, the LGBT community, and religious affiliation there was very little research on deaf culture.
The link below goes to a short survey. All responses are completely anonymous. Data will be used to write an undergraduate paper that will be presented to a Hate Crimes class of roughly forty students. As such questions range from topics on communication with hearing people, criminal victimization, and cochlear implants.
Any help is appreciated as well as any suggestions as to what could be included in future research. I'd be happy to answer any other questions as well.
