After a couple stupid episodes over my life, I finally gave in and got some hearing aids. My loss is moderate, my aids expensive and if I could only adjust them myself, instead of by someone with a book degree and perfect hearing, I believe I'd be happier with them. They squeal, they deaden (lose volume) and are not worth a nickel in many situations. But, they are "a lot better than what used to be available" so I am told. OK, maybe an ear horn, but an open hand behind the ear still sounds better than these tunnel effect $4,200.oo gems. Audiology Group, talk about a money making opportunity for pushing substandard price fixed junk that needs to be replaced one at a time in the first year alone. Am I bitter, no, not really. They do assist me well in most environments and if this is what you get for four grand, I'd hate to have spent less (I think).
These are SX70's, dual mics, 4 EQ settings and they talk to you ("battery"), 1, 2 , 3, 4. When I had them adjusted with the assistance of the factory rep, the 4th program was set for music. She was spot on and that works really well. The other girl just did not listen and wanted to say sea shells, baseball, do I sound OK? No, the room acoustics were all wrong and that's why I want to adjust them myself, not by a book or a course in how to, but by what I choose for me, in my environment.
I have heard (at least I can hear) that there are new low priced models coming out that can be adjusted by a blue tooth or android phone, but they are not quite here yet. Does anyone have any information on those and/or advise on settings for the Audiology Group SX70's...?
