icWales - Athletics: Beth strikes gold in Sofia
CARDIFF AAC’s Beth Sewell struck gold in the European Deaf Athletics Championships in Sofia this week.
Beth, who regularly throws the hammer and discus for the club in the UK Women’s League, withstood soaring temperatures to throw further than she has done before to clinch the title.
“It was so hot in Bulgaria,” said Sewell. “But it seemed to work in my favour as I threw 43.33 m.
“It was a good competition and I feel very proud to have beaten the best in Europe.”
