My hubby and I will be on a cruise with Carnival next January. Has anyone ever succeeded in getting an interpreter for their cruise, and if so, how did you go about getting it? Any help is appreciated.

i never been on cruise before... but in 2007, cruise will have interpreters... only i know...

I've been on a cruise with Royal Carribean...they were very happy to get interpreters for deaf customers. But, I heard that Carnival cruiseline refuse to pay for interpreters, but don't know if it's still the case now.

Remember................

...that most of the ships with the cruiselines are not American registered. They do not have to abide by American laws.

There are travel agencies that specialize in booking cruises for deaf people, including interpreters. You can get registered with some of these and they will inform you regularly of which ones will be interpreted.

I have been on many cruises. One had Bill Cosby as entertainer and I tried for months before the cruise to get an interpreter just for that show, with no results. So we did not go to Cosby's show at all.

About all I can suggest for your coming cruise is to have some close friends who can Sign go with you.

i went on royal caribbean and it was WONDERFUL experience

and they give our interpreter friend a free cruise wow

i am going again in 2007 deaf cruise with my friend or friends
