I've always wondered what its like for the other person the end of a relay service call, ip or terp call... I'm using it more and more, because I have the confidence to do so... but I wonder what it is like for the person on the other end of the call...

anyone been on the other end of a relay call?

If I'm understanding your question correctly, I'd say the experience would be just the same as in real life.....:dunno:

My family tells me that they usually have to wait to hear my response. However, I'm looking forward to answers from others that experienced that. That's a good question to ask.

they'll either feel weird talking to a person for you or cool with it. Why don't you ask whoever you're calling to?

When using IP relay call, delay time period can be between 8-12 seconds.
When using VR, delay time period can be between 4-8 seconds.
When using VCO, delay time period can be between 3-5 seconds.
When using VCO paid service, delay time period can be between 1-3 seconds.

Talking about VCO, not really..i's about zero second.. I can hear the other person talking on the phone and I catches lot of words pretty well and then I speak right away. The other person have no idea that I'm using relay. There are few times when relay operator forgot to mute the mic, and other person start hearing a strange breathing and thought we been eavesdropping. I apologized to that person that I was using relay and blah blah blah.

Back then when I was using TTY...it was f**king horrible!!!!

All hearings told me that they love VP relay over TTY relay and IP relay for fast communication and understand clear.

I remember being on the receiving end of a TTY relay call when I worked at the BBB. I was the only employee authorized to take them at the time since I did not get frustrated with them. Also, I had the volume control on my phone then.

The calls took a little longer, but other than that, it was like a normal call to me. When I recited the report for the company the caller was asking about, I had to read slowly with breaks in there.
