Alleged carjacker gets shot in buttocks

A man trying to steal a car at gunpoint from a couple ended up being shot himself, Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says. Harold Levar Jeffcoat, 29, was arrested Sunday at the hospital where he was being treated for a gunshot wound to the buttocks, Lott said.

Jeffcoat was shot Saturday night after he stuck a gun into the stomach of a man getting into his car at a Wal-Mart in suburban northeast Richland County and demanded his keys, deputies said.

A woman in the passenger seat pulled a gun from the glove compartment and fired five shots at Jeffcoat, hitting him once, investigators said.

Lott is calling the couple heroes. The sheriff said police don't encourage people to go out and "just start shooting," but they do want people to protect themselves.

Jeffcoat also was wanted for at least nine other armed robberies across Columbia, Lott said.

Seriously, I am glad the couple got out of the armed confrontation safely with not so much a stratch or injury.

That is how innocent people should be and the criminals be in a world of hurt or be killed, while the innocent go onto be victors and live a good honest law abiding life.

I am happy the Sheriff had enough common-sense to not charge the innocent couple with trumped up charges and punish the couple for so much as defending themselves from a very sick and evil criminal.

The liberals would be crying foul over the innocent couple and the liberals would have been loving the criminal. That is how sick the liberals are !!!!!

I wonder what caliber the gun was... Getting shot in the ass, depending on caliber can actually kill your ability to walk. Must of been a small one like 380 auto or 22?

This story reminds me of what happened with my parents when they were newly married. They were living in a basement apartment. One night my mom was home dressed in only a slip. She noticed a peeping tom outside her window, so my dad took his shotgun to investigate. He shot the peeping tom in the butt. The peeping tom ran off and went to the local hospital to have the buckshot removed from his posterior. Turned out the peeping tom was one of my dad's college professors. My dad ended up getting an A in that course.

That is big lie about us librals. Who threw those two border patrols in jail? Not librals but Bush's people who running homeland security. They made a pact with Mexican government.
