Way before, the sudden drop
The cold, blue, river, does not stop
A silent surface, seen on top
While deep below, the current is not

Closer now, the water gathers
The silent surface, begins to shatter
The current below, starts to churn
Boaters' and fishermen, it's time to turn

Perilous water, ripples, swirls and shocks
The depth reduced, exposing the rocks
Constricted now, oh, what a rush!!
As it hits the rocks, it's trying to crush

Now at the edge, water that's squeezed
Shoots out in freefall, as it seethes
Dropping at high speed, to the rocks below
Forming a mist, that the wind will blow

Along, with the sound, roaring like thunder
Hard on the ears, does anyone wonder?!!
While rocks being pounded, during natures' stages
With thousands of tons of water, through ages

Eventually breaking, great rocks down
Then strewing them like pebbles, all around
As I stand and ponder, this chain of events
Water's still churning, as it struggles to vent

Far beyond, the sudden drop
The cold, blue, river, does not stop
A silent surface, seen on top
While deep below, the current is not
