Motorcyclist nabbed for 150 mph run on Highway 18 | KOMO News - Seattle, Washington | News
A man cited for going more than 150 miles and hour told the troopers who pulled him over Friday morning that he was late for work.
Trooper Cliff Pratt said the 23-year-old Bonney Lake man was spotted about 8:30 a.m. by a State Patrol aircraft monitoring traffic on Highway 18 near the Green River Bridge.
The aircraft followed the man north on Highway 18 for 15 miles as he sped his motorcycle through rush-hour traffic, and troopers on the ground finally caught up with him near the Interstate 90 interchange.
When he got off his motorcycle, the man told troopers that he knew he was doing 150 mph and that he was speeding because he was running late, Pratt said.
"He knew he was caught," Pratt said, adding that the man had no idea he was being tracked from the air.
"That's the key points to our aircraft patrols," he said. "That's where we're getting a lot of these extreme high speeds from vehicles. You never know where the aircraft is going to be."
The man was given a $675 fine and also cited for driving with an expired motorcycle endorsement on his license.
There's a video in that link. Crazy speeds, for sure.
