I'm having a homework coming up for final essay.

my teacher asked me to do this thesis is I believe there are many advantages to deaf persons to learn signing instead of lip reading

I chose communication but I need two more he meant why is sign language better than lip reading for deaf people. so can you guys help me out a bit ?

I only need two more example. I already choose communication which is easier on deaf people than lip reading and i know not always true. but its an example.

please help.

Lip reading is hard, especially when you get into a group setting.
You can possibly focus seven faces at once. And get everything
in detail as to what is going on in the conversation.

Also sometimes I get mixed up thinking someone said something, and
then I realized it was completely different from what I thought they were saying. ex. Hare/Hair Here/Hear

Distance is another factor, you can sign while being at a certain distance.
But lip reading is next to possible to see what the person is sayiing.

ASL requires the person to stand/sit infront of you, if you are lip reading sometimes they move around and even put their backs towards you so you can't even lip read anymore.

Anyhow I hope that helps.

If you are profoundly deaf, I think it would be hard to pronounce words if you have never "heard" them before. Making it difficult to lip read. ASL is just so much less stressful and you can actually enjoy the conversation all the way around (I would rather have an ASL convo, then a spoken one anyways)
