$900,000 for Rochester School for the Deaf - 13WHAM.com

Rochester’s School for the Deaf has been awarded a grant for its after-school academy.

The state education department awarded the school nearly $900,000 for the next five years.

The Rochester After School Academy is open to all deaf and hard-of-hearing school-age students from area school districts.

"We offer homework support, tutoring...we also offer sports programs, health programs, as well as social opportunities and arts programs," said Jennifer Adams of the Rochester School for the Deaf.

The Rochester After School Academy is free of cost.

Oh awesome! MORE Deaf (and blind) schools should offer an afterschool program for regional dhh students. What a cool idea!
