Anyone have a 360 remote? I'm considering getting one, since the controller shuts itself off 15-20 minutes into any DVD.
The $30 M$ remote seems pretty logical, but the $125 one seems like it really is worth it, a poster at AN( a site I go to) said he got his Gamecube to turn on and off with the remote.
Animenation thread discussing 360 DVD remotes http://animenation.net/forums/showthread.php?t=197579 Be careful there dudes. I am a S-Mod there, known as "Char" there..
Below is a pic of the Logitech Harmony 360 remote..

The Logitech Harmony is the one my fiance got because he uses his Xbox to play DVDs. He is very very happy with it. It controls his game system, sound system, TiVo, etc., works well and looks nice. I admit I'm a little jealous since I'm still on the multiremote system in my living room. If you have a 360 and a lot of other hardware it really seems worth it.

One note: It took him hours to configure the thing but I think that was because he has this weird TV he bought used and was having trouble finding out the model of it. Probably it wouldn't take as long ordinarily.

It's good work for basic and digital cable.

I don't know if its work on Directv and Dish, and it seems would too hard to get it.

Nah, this is a worthless. I use a controller as a remote. It is not hard to figure out how to use.

I think DeafMatrixsense means he doesn't think a special dvd remote or universal remote is necessary, and that the controller is fine. Yes, the controller is fine, but I dislike using a menu in the middle of a dvd. Also when you bring a date home to watch a movie, which would look and be cooler, a controller or a remote? I say remote.

Controller is more cool than remote. :)

In that case, I still use a wireless controller. Not necessary to have a 360 remote to impress your girl. That's dumb move, no offense.

Recently I posted there was I meant stop wasting your money on a stupid remote and use wise money for something else.

Hey guys! Chill out! He can get it as he want. I plan to get one for myself. Reason that I can use that remote to turn off TV, DVD, TIVO, XBOX 360 and sound system. I don't like to leave many remotes on my coffee table. I can use that remote to turn tv, xbox 360 and sound system on at the same time.

I don't think it would compatible with Directv but it would good for basic cable and other $130 remote is good for digital cable.

Use the special Xbox buttons. The Harmony 360 includes convenient Y, X, A, and B buttons and media center controls for your Xbox gaming.
Control your devices: past, present and future! The Harmony 360 gives you full control of up to 12 devices. The Logitech database contains over 2,500 manufacturers and over 80,000 IR devices — everything from HDTVs to PVRs, DVD players to VCRs, and game consoles to lighting controls! The database is updated daily, so it's guaranteed to work with all models and manufacturers.
Set it up in a snap! The Harmony Set-up Wizard does the programming, so you don't have to. Just connect your remote to your computer and answer a few questions about how you currently use your audio/video and entertainment components. Logitech's patented Smart State Technology does the rest.
Control your entire home entertainment system with just one button. Choose the "Play Xbox" activity and the Harmony Remote will power on your TV, Xbox 360, stereo receiver, set all the inputs, and even press "Play!"
It is possible that will work with Directv. Over 2,500 manufacturers!!!

Well, You have add code on remote to make work with Directv and if not then call Directv.

Universal remote is not as same as the orinigal remote but unless different brand name for all equipments such as tv, tivo, home threate speaker system, dvd, and etc. And then I agree with you. Mine is all sony equipments and nothing else. The sony remote for home theatre system has control the tv, dvd, and home theatre and I considered it to be an universal remote.

He stated that the reason he wants one because he wants to impress his girl. That's dumb move. You had the reason to buy this and that was not a dumb move.

Right! That is only reason that I just want to use universal remote. Same idea as CLICK movie. So I can use anywhere to turn off, fast forward.. LOL

Pacman, yes, you have to use code. When i owned sony tv, dvd and sound system. It works once. When Tivo comes in and I have to use code on sony remote. Also will not work on newer sony because my sony remote was old as 5 years old. I have to look up on website for newer models and use that code to work on my old remote.

Yea, Dr. Strangelove made me laugh but remote isn't hot to girls.

I also expect you aren't taking me seriously with what I said about impressing a girl. It isn't my sole reason for being even remotely interested in the remote, so please don't make it sound as if it was such or take my words out of context. :) Since you already have an universal sony remote, I can see why you don't see the need for Logitech's 360 remote. I don't have an universal remote.

The Logitech Harmony remote looks like it would be a remote I could use for a long time. It can be programmed, to work with new products. If that doesn't impress you.. Enjoy your blissful ignorance.
