A Rome school is celebrating its 130th anniversary.
The New York State School for the Deaf has about 100 students ranging from toddlers to young adults. Tuesday, more than 150 people gathered in the school's gymnasium for a special ceremony.
School officials say events are planned for the entire week.
"It recognizes the 130th anniversary we opened on March 22, 1875. So we have a number of special displays around the school. There's a special party today. Yesterday there was an opening ceremony for this week so the whole week is kind of our celebration week to honor the 130th," said Gordon Baker, Department Head.
