    CI Implant and Tinnitus

Thank you for the encouragement, there is hope that it can get better? After the CI implant surgery, it seemed to improve for a while?. For me, stress has a way of making those noises louder and more intense, before and after the surgery, but if tinnitus is a perceived sound of the brain...

    CI Implant and Tinnitus

In the beginning after my surgery the tinnitus I suffer from seemed to improve. I don't know if it's stress but now the tinnitus is bothering me again? Sometimes just wearing the implant helps, but other times it makes it worse? When I brought it up to the Audiologist, she didn't seem to...

Lost my hearing in both ears just a year ago.

Hi Prince820, sorry about the loss of your hearing, but glad you survived your heart attack. Still I can understand the stress and frustration you must have felt losing your hearing on top of your other stressors. I know how hard it was for me. I felt alone and excluded by family and friends...

    1 yr post op CI

Thank you. I had some adjustments in the past and a couple of weeks ago, but instead of better, it becomes worse, so it seems like I'm going backwards instead of forward? My Audiologist will get sick of me before we figure this out? I'm getting my updated sound processor very soon, so I hope...

    1 yr post op CI

Hello, I had L ear cochlear implant put in one year ago, and at first I seemed to be doing quite well, With this last assessment my speech perception has fallen considerably. (making out sentences with booth testing) I am not sure why this could be happening because all my other tests seemed...

    New here...

Welcome all newbies. Christine, I recently got an implant in my left ear. My hearing was toast in both ears so I had a pick between the 2. Had my surgery in Mar but still adjusting. All the appts before the implant were more work than the actual surgery. I had surgery in the morning, got...

    Hearing loss Pet Peeves!

LoL, still happening here, if it wasn't for my husband either picking up the call or listening to the message left behind I would have missed appts? Are they that disorganized that they don't have it written down, but what gets to me, some of these people are reminded more than once, yet it's...

    Tinnitus is driving me crazy

Caramlmachiato, sorry to hear, I know what you are going through. Tinnitus sucks . Since I got the Cochlear implant in the one ear, the tinnitus is better, not gone, but better, I still struggle with it and night time is always the worst, probably because there is less distraction and...

    Cochlear battery?

A brief question, if I charge up 2 batteries, use one and put one aside, how long will the unused one keep it's charge? , A day, or longer or the same amount of time as the first one? In other words, if I go somewhere, and use up one battery for the day, will the other one that I charged up...

    Just got activated

I got activated at the end of April, and I'm going thru the same thing. Mind you, the adjustment she was making, went pretty good the second time. I could hear my husband pretty good, even though at first everything seems strange, even him, but I was not too pleased with the last adjustment, I...

    It's a go! I have a surgery date!

It went surprisingly good. It was a day surgery, came home the same day, was quite alert, had some bleeding at surgical site but that was a short and temporary. thing. Had a longer incision than expected but that was normal for this surgeon, I have been activated last week and I'm wearing the...

    CI Activation

Thank you for the angelsound link. I think it will be really helpful once I can figure out what I'm doing? All that I have been introduced to so far is mapping, of different sounds and tones, which one is the loudest, that one kind of stressed me out because, I don't know if I was...

    CI Activation

Thank you guys, all is well, or as well as can be expected. I was activated a couple days ago, my 2nd appt. At this point it is all new to me. I can hear but not clearly?. It's little sounds that I notice more, I coughed a couple times, and I kid you not, I sounded like my dog barking high...

Does stress make hearing loss worse?

Thank you for sharing. You are right, it is possible to remove yourself from stress. A few years ago, I was highly stressed and when I learned of a trip I was to take, it made it even worse. I went with a panic attack. During the course of being away for the 2 weeks, I totally relaxed, I...

    CI Activation

Thanks HOH Guy and x1heavy, I was warned about normal voices being different in the beginning. I read a couple of negative posts where it didn't work out for the person and that is when doubt crept in, but now I'm figuring if God brought me this far, I'm sure he didn't bring me this far for...

    CI Activation

Hello, on Tuesday and Wed I have appts to activate my Cochlear implant. I am excited, yet in a way concerned that I've built myself up to hear again, but what if something doesn't go right? For those who have had implants before me, what happens on that first and second day when they activate...
