    Name Change?

Is getting a name change possible here on All Deaf? I'm just curious, because if I can, I'd like to change my name.

    Fitting Into The Deaf Community...

No offense to hearing people, but I love to tell them off in sign language! But either way, my co-workers and some of my friends are learning to sign basic things, so it's helping!

    My boyfriend is becoming Deaf

While I was growing up I had the same problem, however, when I moved to West Virginia, I found an audie who was married to a deaf woman who encouraged sign language. :) I was lucky to have a good audie like him.

    My boyfriend is becoming Deaf

No problem! Also, something I heard from my interpreter in college, there's like so many dB a normal person has, however, a hearing aid actually has more coverage than a CI. So even if he does go for the CI, just inform him that he won't hear anything like he did with a hearing aid or...

how old you when you become deaf or hearing loss

I was born hearing, lost hearing from Bacterial Meningitis at 2 years old, took speech therapy since preschool. I was one of the lucky ones at that hospital to survive BM, so I am happy. :)

    Fitting Into The Deaf Community...

I've gotten into a few silly arguments in the past with one deaf person in particular... but every other time I've had a blast with deaf! I'd rather be in the deaf community more than the hearing... the only thing that keeps me from wanting to be completely deaf is how it feels to hear, even...

    My boyfriend is becoming Deaf

I was personally told to get a CI, but I was also forewarned that if I did, I'd have to relearn my speech and all that stuff, so I stuck with the hearing aids, and if I go completely deaf, I'll tell everyone, "LEARN SIGN OR NOTHING!"

    Fitting Into The Deaf Community...

I'm the same way... but sometimes I just can't stand hearing people... they get on my nerves when they get upset b/c I can't hear! But overall, I'm the type of guy who is very welcoming... I love making friends, but sometimes I get done dirty... but who doesn't these days?

    Brokeback Mountain

I think that movie was great... The sad thing... I cried at the end of it. The good thing about that movie was it really portrayed what it feels like to be confused about a lot of things... It was just awesome overall!

    Fitting Into The Deaf Community...

What determines if a person can fit into the deaf community? I heard by some people that hoh or hearing people have it tougher... (which some might) especially those who attended mainstream schools. What's your view on how one fits into the deaf community?

    Good Feeling!!!

I have a BTE in my right ear... if I ever do go back and get a new mold (when I get insurance) I'm going to get blue and white for my state colors. :) Also, I just started working and have had a few encounters with deaf people... one in particular was shocked that I knew how to sign and so he...

    My boyfriend is becoming Deaf

My hearing is becoming worse, at least not at the moment, but over time it has decreased in volume. My audie from childhood told me I would be able to retain my hearing status, then when I entered high school I was deaf in my left ear. It's a very scary thing, especially since I love...

    New Guy Here...

Hi! My name is Brian. I am 20 years old and I live in North Carolina. I recently started working at WalMart. I have been hard-of-hearing since I was 2 1/2 years old when I was diagnosed with Meningitis. I am completely deaf in my left ear and wear a hearing aid in my right ear (in my...
