    Question

I grew up with Phonak. Never had an issue with that particular brand. They only fall apart when you severly abuse them or if they are over 5 years old. Of which shouldn't happen because you should replace hearing aids every 4-5 years. I've had issues with the other brands. So has my...

I lost all my hearing in my right ear last August. Poof, gone. No warning. Nothing. Then noises got loud on my left ear, went to get it checked out. My left ear tolerence for noises went down, my audi adjusted my HA the best she could and then told me that if it went down anymore the HA...

Is there any thing extra I need to be aware of the surgery? Is there a book out there that explains the process of getting a CI and how to deal with the mapping process?

When I was in kindergarden to about second grade I had connection to the deaf community. Not too much. After second grade, I didn't because my mom moved us,which meant a different school. Thanks for your best wishes and prayers.

The doctor says that the only reason it's so soon is due to the fact that he only creates a small scar. He also does not require you to shave your head. Which is a bonus for me because I am getting married in August.

So yeah I figured I'd call the insurance to check out how far they are with the pre-determination process. None, zip, nadda. Why? Well because they never recieved the letter. After much fighting and trying to get them to talk to me, my mom calls them and gets a response (which is utter...

what they don't tell you about CIs

I am not suggesting to do it all the time. I am saying that occassionally it's fine to sleep with it. I do it accidently all the time. It happens. I was just saying that people should do what they are comfortable with. HA or CI should not restrict you from what you need to do or enjoy. I...

what they don't tell you about CIs

I got a slight problem with what you just said. I constantly end up having to mow the lawn and when I do I am ALWAYS interupted for directions on how to get to the highschool due to a football game/practice, ergo I have to wear the hearing aid. The sweat doesn't but me because I live in a...

Good news. I just got the call. Apparently the CT scan was good enough for them to approve the CI. They are writing up the letter for insurance. Now I have to deal with insurance. Yay!!!!

Has anyone dealt with Boys Town in Omaha. If so, did you deal with the CI not contacting you? I have not heard anything from them and it's been three weeks. This is annoying me increadably.
