    Semi-New Here...

Jollyrj; it was i that mentioned liking the thought of being deaf. It would take a lot of stress off of me; to not have to constantly scan my auditory environment for my name; in order to avoid missing anything important. I want to get rid of my HA's, and establish myself as a Deaf person. I am...

Mom of 20 year old Hard of hearing son.

Being involved in the life of your children and loved ones is very important. It is instrumental in determining how they will develop; or, not develop. So; it may be late, but you can still make a difference. Thought changes nothing; action does. I wish my mom were involved. I am 22; severe loss...

    Who is single here?

It sounds as though you have a good support system in place :) I wish i had that. I don't how to develop one, if that's possible. It's also very hard for me to go out to places like bars, clubs, or other loud areas.. Whether by myself or with others. I'm seriously considering ditching my HA's...

    Who is single here?

Myself, as well. I like being single. :-) I just wish i had D/deaf/HoH friends. Hearies are too much effort to be around.

Who else is HoH? I want to talk to you

I'm tired of feeling isolated within the Hearing community. It isn't easy to make ends meet, when the other end is unwilling to clarify/modify their communication. I frequently feel lonely, frustrated, sad, or apathetic. I'd love to meet somebody who shares my struggles, and understands that...

Hey, everyone! I'm HoH, and new to this site (:

How much ASL do you know? I took a class at CPCC, but gave up because nobody would practice with me. I was the only HoH in m class -_____-

Hey, everyone! I'm HoH, and new to this site (:

Nice to meet you, too; Linda :) GU will be awesome! I can't wait to meet people who will be able to understand me, and why i am the way i am. Specifically, the huge effect that my being HoH has had on my life. Are you Hearing?

Hey, everyone! I'm HoH, and new to this site (:

As a child, i thought the same about myself; until i witnessed a girl with hearing aids on her way to the bus in my sophomore year of middle school. Ever since that day, i made sure to look at the ears (or behind the ears) of every person i met or saw. It made me feel slightly less alone in my...

    Common Experience?

jollyrj: i am sure we all have faced it at one point or another. Big changes don't always come in on silent wings. For a hearing person, it means that they may have to put in 4x the effort to communicate with their loved one; and that can be a turn-off if they aren't fully invested or...

    Hi!

I gotchuuu x) I like that you can joke about it, especially at such pivotal moment of your growth!! It shows a remarkable degree of maturity. i didn't use humor to cope with how i felt about my lack of hearing until very recently. I wish i'd developed that habit earlier in life, as it would...

    Semi-New Here...

I enjoy just reading the stories that people share on here. Makes me smile, makes me sad, but above all, i can FEEL! I detach myself from emotion when interacting with hearing people, but not with HoH people

    Semi-New Here...

I try to stay positive; even during a depressive outbreak. (Which is super difficult, to say the least). As for communicating to those close to me, i literally have no one close to me. That's why i joined this site - to find people who share similar experiences as i, and to potentially make...

    Semi-New Here...

Hi, jollyrj!! My name is Samuel, and i live very similarly to you. HoH, progressive loss. Sensoineural. Treated by a pair of analog ha's, somewhat. I'm 22 going on 23, and have been isolating myself from all because i am so tired of having to ask others to repeat themselves. I have an accent...

Hey, everyone! I'm HoH, and new to this site (:

Losing a parent isn't typically easy by any means, even if the relationship was rocky. Hope all is well on your end. As for how things are; they are better than when i was younger, by degrees. But not good, yet. Whoever your teacher is, i wish i could shake her hand. She made a huge difference...

Hey, everyone! I'm HoH, and new to this site (:

Yeesh, your dad sounds like a hard-ass. I got my HA's at six because it took them awhile to save up for them (they are super expensive) 2 grand apiece. Very few in the hearing community seem to care if you have a disability, as long as they don't have to accomodate you. SMH!
