Best Deaf Cell Phones? Samsung Galaxy Note II is one!

I have had a Blackberry Torch 9800 for a year, it was great for email and text message, I could type very fast! However the software sometimes froze, the AppWorld stopped working, BB support service is non-existent, and the browser is slow and some websites are not displayed in a readable manner...

    Work from home for Deaf?

They're mostly freelancing jobs, that's true. But you can manage your own time, have less expenses (no working clothes, no transportation costs from/to the workplace, etc)

Getting a driving license for a HOH

One more question for you: how did you arrange the practical exam? I need to lip-read the examiner to understand his/her instructions, unless he's willing to point left/right with his/her finger.

Getting a driving license for a HOH

Thank you very much for the info. I'll get in touch with Indiana's DMV, then. It sounds a lot more simple than in Italy, luckily!

    Work from home for Deaf?

You could be a DTP specialist, a translator, a designer, a programmer, a SEO specialist, a researcher, a copywriter, a moderator in forums and social networks, a localizer, a software tester, etc. You *can* actually make a living out of them. Don't fall for pyramid-selling schemes, try to...

Hello, I hope I am posting this in the right section. I am an Italian citizen and I have a Green Card. I would like to get a driving license in the state of Indiana. I read that being HOH I need to undergo a medical exam. Where can I schedule one? Will it take place the same days as the...

Needed to vent frustration to people who understand

My guess is that *HE* is hard of hearing, so he's pissed off because he fears he's not able to express himself properly. Try to explain him that you have a hearing issue. If he is still holding the grudge, then at least you tried to make it better.

    Hearing impaired from Italy

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I do have a green card, so on that side I am already settled. WHERE? I haven't yet decided where to go to, so I'll be taking a vacation in the USA on February to browse a little - the USA are so big and I have always been to Manhattan only. I feel there...

Learning to Speak a Foreign Language as a Deaf Person

I was born with a normal hearing and everything else, and became hard of hearing in one ear and deaf in the other all of a sudden at the age of 10. By then, I already mastered my native language (Italian) and thus I speak it fluently, at the point that nobody understand I have a hearing problem...

    Hearing impaired from Italy

Hello everybody, I am a 29 y.o. girl from Italy. I lost my hearing in both ears when I was 10, and I wear a hearing aid on my left ear, only. I mostly live using lip-reading, as I can hear sounds through the hearing aid, but I am no longer able to recognize the words. I learnt to speak my...
