    Is This Common?

Calling something "genetic" is very non-specific. There are easily 100 different genetic causes of deafness - some common, some not so common. How likely a specific genetic mutation is to be passed onto a child is highly dependant on the actual mutation itself.

    "Are you Saved"

You may accept this as "truth" yet you have no more evidence of your claim than the claims of any other religion. You believe it - that's YOUR truth. Other people believe other stuff - that's THEIR truth. No one has a more valid claim to "truth" than anyone else when speaking of spiritual...

    "Are you Saved"

So, you are fluent in classical Greek? I never claimed the text was saying one specific thing or another. I personally find taking small portions of Biblical text out of context rarely leads to the whole meaning of an entire passage, or an entire ministry for that matter.

Vote for Creationism or Evolutionism or Both for Schools to Teach?

In context - here are the passages in a New International Version translation. Romans 1:18-32 God's Wrath Against Mankind 18The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19since what may be known...

Vote for Creationism or Evolutionism or Both for Schools to Teach?

Teresh - I think the quote was on point - break it down to these phrases. It makes a bit more sense. Basically, it says "God has shown you what he has done and the evidence of what he did is in the creations", and it also says "people who called themselves wise were proven to be foolish."...

Vote for Creationism or Evolutionism or Both for Schools to Teach?

John 3:12 New International Version (NIV) I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?

    America’s Most Distrusted Minority

I think being raised as an atheist taught me a great deal about being a good person of faith. Though I have always had an indwelling sense of God, and am now a Christian, I value my atheist roots.

As far as I can tell, you don't either.

    Is This Common?

Deafness - it is not just one thing with one cause, it is the symptom or result of something else: An injury, a disease, a malformation or a genetic defect. In this case it looks like this is a genetic disorder, but which genetic disorder? Some genetic disorders are quite rare, and some...

Unlimited Background Checks, Investigate Anyone, Search for Records!

It is illegal, under the FCRA, to conduct a check on anyone's consumer report (which is ANY kind of background check, basically) without their express consent. Many of the countries noted below to not allow access to court documents. be wary of services like this. You may be violating another...

    The Point In Human Life

It is neither truth, nor half-truth. Both what Teresh said and what you are saying are simply beliefs. They can't, or haven't been proven as "truth". One is her belief, the other is your belief, and as such, are equally valid. You don't have to agree - but it is foolish to say someone else's...

You know you're a Christian when.......

That's ok. You didn't know. Now you can let your friend know who did write it. :)

Things I wish my Dad knew: (VENT)

I don't have any contact at all with my Dad. I got tired of needing him to be a Dad to me and never getting that. It's sad, but I am happier with him out of my life, but I can't say I have it all resolved. If you still have contact with your Dad, maybe you can ask him for what you need?

You know you're a Christian when.......

As I read this, I suspected Maya Angelou would not write something with such a trite rhyming metre. This is, in-fact, written by Carol Wimmer. It is a good poem though. Thank you for sharing it.

How do you feel about Immigrants?

It could work this way - we just keep letting our politicians talk us out of it.

How do you feel about Immigrants?

ALL people without medical insurance, whether immigrant or natural born, get pretty much the same care at any hospital. If you are a citizen or a legal immigrant, it's easier to track you down to pay the bills, but many, many, many never pay the exorbitant bills anyway. Catholic Charities...

You know you're a Christian when.......

This isn't satire and isn't meant to be satire (though I am sure you meant to post it as satire). This is an intentional, stinging indictment by the writer of what he or she thinks (all or most or some) Christians are like. Satire is supposed to be funny - even if it is a bit biting. This was...

How do you view a long term committed relationship?

Almost all U.S. states have some sort of legal recognition for long-term relationships, especially where children are involved. Some recognize "common-law marriage" specifically. Others simply recognize the economic support aspects of it.

How do you feel about Immigrants?

Jesus moved across borders to do his works, and sent out his disciples in the same way. That makes him an immigrant. Whenever I hear the anti-immigrant rhetoric, I turn again, and again to the Book of Ruth. Ruth was an immigrant. If we never had Ruth and Boaz - well, there wouldn't have...

    The Point In Human Life

I know the question was not directed to me, but I will say, I have had two distinct times when God literally spoke to me. I don't discuss it often, because it makes people think you are nuts, but there it is. It's my truth - nothing I could prove, just something between God and me I guess.
