Any envoy medical esteem recipients out there?

You know, in all the times I've run into your posts, I've never once seen you tell someone, "That's great! Even though <insert product here> isn't right for me, I'm glad it's working for you." As these other members have said, I don't have to explain myself or my choices to you. In the end, I'm...

Any envoy medical esteem recipients out there?

I think the Carina is approved in the UK. A friend of mine is in the process of having it done anyway. I know the implantable CI is a slow process, but better slow than push out a product that isn't ready. I was a little surprised to read on here that some CI users are having issues with their...

If they come out with an implant that syncs with an iPod, I'm in. Period. :laugh2:

Any envoy medical esteem recipients out there?

Really?? I am not a paid spokesperson. I have never received a dime from Envoy except food and gas reimbursements during the clinical trial, the same as all the other trial patients. If I was a spokesperson, I'd have that second implant that I so desperately want. Yes, you remember me "hyping"...

Mom worried about her son's hearing

My daughter's newborn screening was inconclusive, so we had her fully tested, and we were told that her hearing was fine. Over the years, she had many different tests, and they all gave different results. We began to doubt the accuracy of the latest tests when we noticed little signs that she...

    Implants and tinnitus

Is metal poisoning an issue for some people with cochlear implants? I have the Esteem middle ear implant, so it's different. It's made with titanium.

Thank you, Naisho; my post did show up later (it's the one where I thanked Kokomo for the welcome at the end of my post).

Any envoy medical esteem recipients out there?

I actually don't like talking on the phone with the Esteem, lol. I am so used to using my unimplanted ear on the phone, and without my hearing aid in. If I ever do get the Esteem in the other ear, I will be forced to learn to talk using the other ear. Confusing! :D I do know what you mean...

Any envoy medical esteem recipients out there?

Because I have natural hearing! It gets tricky when you try to describe what you hear naturally - no aid of any kind vs. with hearing aids vs. the Esteem. I can get along reasonably well without any kind of aid, so I know what everything sounds like in their natural context. I know what these...

Any envoy medical esteem recipients out there?

Cyborg, I honestly don't know. The first time I entered the clinical trial, I was forced to drop out at the last minute thanks to my suddenly low scores on the baseline testing. I scored 12% unaided on my speech discrimination test. A couple of years later, Envoy invited me to take part in a...

Any envoy medical esteem recipients out there?

I wear the Esteem in one ear, and a Resound digital aid in the other. I wear my hearing aid part-time. Yes, the Esteem does sound closer to my natural hearing than that of my aid. Does it sound completely natural? No. Am I happy with what I hear? Yes. Most of the people I know who do not have...

    Implants and tinnitus

I am curious to know how my implant has stopped the tinnitus in that ear. Just one of those small added bonuses, I guess!

That's odd - my long posts must be approved while the short posts are submitted right away, lol. I posted a long response to you, stlcardinalfan; hopefully it'll show up soon.

Any envoy medical esteem recipients out there?

Cyborg, I fully agree. I just don't want the Esteem to get a bad rep because it is a product that has been a huge game-changer not only for myself, but for many others as well. But anyone who is thinking about another alternative to hearing aids should absolutely consider all viable options and...

Any envoy medical esteem recipients out there?

I never could find a pair of hearing aids that could provide what I needed (I was first fitted when I was 3 years old, and I'm 34 now). Hearing people never could understand why I struggled to hear; they always told me, "wear your hearing aids" or "just turn the volume up." It's difficult to...

    Implants and tinnitus

For those of you who have any type of hearing implant, has your tinnitus been completely eliminated from that ear? I'm just curious since I no longer have tinnitus in my implanted ear (middle ear implant) but I still have painful tinnitus in the other ear.
