    Don't like my new MAP!

I know...it just does get frustrating sometimes. Another four hour round trip drive to spend half an hour waiting for a half an hour appointment. Even then, I won't know till I get home and "give it a try" if the new map will be better. It is just so different in a quiet office with little...

    I have tiny problem

Yeah..still not sure how much I trust mine, but not sure I have a choice given my insurance and who they will have access too. (Tricare Prime, military insurance). My audi is fairly new, but at times seems to have a head on her shoulders..other times, not so sure.

    Don't like my new MAP!

Had my first real mapping session last Thursday and I know I have to go back and get a new one. I sat through all the beeps, and my audi asked me to tell her when they got to the point of being "too loud". Trouble is, they didn't. There were some high frequency beeps I just plain didn't like the...

    Another Update *sigh*

Amazing progress on the book Lisa. That is a lot of hard work for you, but I imagine it is a welcome release of thought and idea all coming together.

    I have tiny problem

Bummer Charlotte. Sounds only slightly different from me right now. Had my first real mapping Thursday and some sounds are super loud while others are soft and muffled. I think I will have to go back for a new mapping session. But, that is me, not you. Perhaps a call to your audi is in order...

    Things starting to work out

That is awesome! I am so glad things are working out for you. It's a cool feeling isn't it? Mine was driving home in the car and realizing the song on the radio was Paul Simon's 50 ways to leave your lover and I could understand every word of the chorus. I still need captions for some things on...

    new cochlear implants (Freedom)

I wouldn't think you would be that far behind since all three companies are world wide. Perhaps it is just regions in Australia that haven't caught up? I know there are parts of the US that are behind other parts of the country.

    new cochlear implants (Freedom)

Hi Matt, You will find several nucleus users in here, and quite a few from Australia. Not from there myself, though I do have an Aunt and two cousins there. Welcome!

    Opinions needed on CI Brands

I can't speak for those that have bilateral CI's, nor for the ones that chose to have both implanted at the same time. But, for me, I would not have them done at the same time simply due to healing time and comfort. I had my surgery in November and that side is still a bit tender to sleep on...

    CI Activation Moments

    1. Sensorineural 2. Profound both ears and close to zero speech discrimination 3. Had normal hearing in both ears for 49 years, rapid loss in left ear with just a bit slower loss in right (profound left at 50, severe/profound right at 51 with a nose dive to profound a few months before...

    How accurate is this?

You miss my point. What good is a hearing aid if what you hear you can't make sense of? If the speech is so garbled that you can't comprehend what is being said? At that point, does it really matter that you can hear a door close or paper tear? When those lovely little hairs that transmit sound...

kind of worried about my implant

I had CI surgery in November and was in and out of the surgical complex in under 6 hours, start to finish. The "cocktail" I was given was awesome and I woke up alert and fine, no grogginess. As a matter of fact, from wake up to out the door was about a half hour. I was fine all the way home and...

    t-coil and cell phone question?

Woo-hoo, only 3996 to go! I am still not sure about the t-mix, but willing to try. I, too, am sensitive to the highs and my audi did tune them down a bit. I have already noticed a difference. Voices still not human, but less chipmunky. And that is a good thing. While I was coming home I found...

    t-coil and cell phone question?

Thanks for the advice. I will give it a try as I am still experimenting with the whole t-coil/cell phone thing.

    One side CI...

That happened to me each and every time I had to listen to the beeps. Was it real or my tinnitus talking? That has been a great benefit of my CI surgery. After three years of tinnitus, 24/7, those sounds are now silent. Thank goodness, as there were times I thought I was losing it.

    help

It's a tough choice, but you have to do what is right for you in your heart. If you don't feel good about CI, don't have the surgery. They have no right to force or guilt you into it. That is a personal choice only YOU can make. Good luck with following your heart.

    t-coil and cell phone question?

Saw my audi today and have my first "real" mapping. 4 proggies. P1 is normal, P2 is same as P1 with noise reduction. P3 has what I call tunnel hearing, as it has a narrow field of hearing for restaurants and such and P4 has T-mix (thanks for suggesting it all...it is so much easier to just touch...
