Surgery scheduled in 6 hours from now for me. Hopefully everything goes well.

Happy to say that my CI surgery went through today. Scheduled for May 30th and insurance also approved! Glad the insurance was ok, since I just got the insurance a month ago or so primarily for the CI. Any thing necessary before the surgery? (No eating for 12 hours or something?)

Does anyone know if permission from insurance of CI only is to the specific hospital, or is it with me. My current doctor does offer AB and cochlear, but he does not want me to get AB at all. After I asked him about why, he did tell me about the facts I already know (recall) and even cochlear...

I am unsure if my hospital provides med el, but is there any specific reason why cochlear and AB are more commonly chosen? Also thanks for the replies. Still gathering info till my CT scan and choosing of brand in a couple days. (2 precisely)

Hmm interesting. As someone who hopes to get CI soon and cannot even use phone at the moment with HA, this thread is informative and slightly worrying.

Hopefully it goes well for you. I had my evaluation 1 week ago. Well beyond the acceptable range for CI. Excluding my low frequency, most of my high frequency is below 80-90dB. Got a ct scan coming up. Now its just deciding between AB and cochlear.
