Genetic testing would determine whether you have a progressive loss or not. But there is also the belief that if you don't use it, you lose it. That's why now people are encouraged to get aids as early as possible. By I might have another test done by someone else before I jump to any conclusions.

The naida's were too big(fat) to fit comfortably behind my ears, eventually causing pain. Tried them several times always with the same results. I can't imagine putting the device behind my ear that is required with an implant without it causing discomfort. And wearing it elsewhere may limit...

Some countries don't allow deaf people to drive. Some states put restrictions on drivers license for people with hearing aids. The comments here are just throwing fuel on the fire.

Deaf people drive all the time with no problem. It's simply a matter of what you are used to.

Candy, is there some kind of consumer advocate that you can file a complaint with. In Ohio it's the state attorney general. I know getting it resolved will take a long time but but at least you would get some satisfaction. Hearing aids should always have some leeway in case of future loss...

The audiogram is a guide at best. If you didn't already know that then I wouldn't try programming an on my own. Of course if you decide to do it anyway, you'll certainly save money and probably get what you paid for.

That's exactly why you should wear your aids everyday. As you get used to your aids your brain filters out background noise and you become less aware of. Since you haven't worn them for a while all sound is new and the brain accepts all the new sounds and it all can seem overwhelming it. It...
