    Smartlink Problems

Well I returned from my audiologist and had everything adjusted. Apparently the shoes that snap onto my aids have adjustment screws on them that can be turned to raise the volume of the FM. So we did that. We also used the hearing aid program to lower the hearing aids on FM + Mic and to...

I'm getting a new aid, and I found out I lost even more hearing. How?

Genetic testing would determine whether you have a progressive loss or not. But there is also the belief that if you don't use it, you lose it. That's why now people are encouraged to get aids as early as possible. By I might have another test done by someone else before I jump to any conclusions.

    Smartlink Problems

I just want to say, in advance, thank you to Phonak FM, who has time and time again come to the assistance to Phonak users on this forum, especially regarding assistant listening devices. His help has only increased the value of this forum. I will take the info you have provided to my...

    Smartlink Problems

Well I am heading back to my audi on Wed. to see if I can get this smartlink adjusted. I have had it about a week and it has been pretty much useless. My hearing aids are resound azure power aids and my loss is profound in both ears. Program 3 on my aid has been set at FM+Mic, and program 4...

Actual CI users in here please ...

The naida's were too big(fat) to fit comfortably behind my ears, eventually causing pain. Tried them several times always with the same results. I can't imagine putting the device behind my ear that is required with an implant without it causing discomfort. And wearing it elsewhere may limit...

Dear Phonak: Things I Would Like To See...

Thanks evil queen lisa. I am hoping these problems can be fixed. I definitely need the help and I see the potential in program 3 when I am in a quiet environment. But as it stands right now if the volume problem can't be corrected the whole system will go back and I will continue to struggle...

Dear Phonak: Things I Would Like To See...

Well let's change the subject just a little. Everything about the smartlink is explained witha Phonak hearing aid. But what if you use the smartlink with say a resound azure? I have decided to use programs 3 and 4 on my aid for the smartlink. Program 3 is FM + mic. It seems to work okay...

    Residual Hearing

My understanding is that due to the nature of the surgery you lose it all, in that ear, permanently.

    Car noise with hearing aids

Some countries don't allow deaf people to drive. Some states put restrictions on drivers license for people with hearing aids. The comments here are just throwing fuel on the fire.

    Car noise with hearing aids

Deaf people drive all the time with no problem. It's simply a matter of what you are used to.

Well I went back to my old Audi..ugh.

Candy, is there some kind of consumer advocate that you can file a complaint with. In Ohio it's the state attorney general. I know getting it resolved will take a long time but but at least you would get some satisfaction. Hearing aids should always have some leeway in case of future loss...

What Does An Audiologist Exactly Do When Dispensing a Hearing Aid?

The audiogram is a guide at best. If you didn't already know that then I wouldn't try programming an on my own. Of course if you decide to do it anyway, you'll certainly save money and probably get what you paid for.

    Car noise with hearing aids

That's exactly why you should wear your aids everyday. As you get used to your aids your brain filters out background noise and you become less aware of. Since you haven't worn them for a while all sound is new and the brain accepts all the new sounds and it all can seem overwhelming it. It...
