Homeowner killed the fleeing female burglar

I just saw the video and read the article on CNN just now, and man, some serious conflicting feelings are going through me right now. I can understand him taking a stand and shooting them in his home, but he didn't need to pursue them and keep shooting at them, but instead should've let police...

Yet another child dies in a hot car; a foster father is arrested

Inspecting all foster families just because of this incident seems like a knee-jerk reaction. However, I do support foster families being inspected in general to ensure that the children are well-cared for, the foster parents are doing well and need any support, and to ensure other standards of...

    Mozzeria in San Francisco

That's pretty interesting, never heard of such a thing. How do the waitresses deal with hearing customers? I'd be interested to see the responses of customers who had no idea about the restaurant's unique staff and what they thought afterwards. Should make for a fascinating read.

    Saying Hi and About Me

Yeah, it was definitely no fun to lose my driving privileges when my eyesight started going. Thanks to the recent happenings, I'm able to go back to driving again. I've been practicing, brushing up on my past skills, and should go in for a test to get my license again next month. It wouldn't...

    Saying Hi and About Me

Not sure what you mean by specialized stuff in public school. I did get to go to hearing impaired classes in public school and in some of them I had speech therapy, as well. In elementary school I had teachers with mics and I could wear a device around my neck to hear them better. It...

Yet another child dies in a hot car; a foster father is arrested

I don't understand how people can be unaware of the dangers of this, for both young children and pets. Especially in today's day and age where enough people harp upon this subject everywhere that most Americans should be well aware of it by now.

Me neither! Join the club. I couldn't draw a stick figure to save my life. How about Sonic the Hedgehog? He seems to be an easy one to get down.

    Deaf, hearing relationships

Any relationship will work out, no matter how difficult or contrary they may be. Love and companionship knows no barriers. It is a bit of a challenge, but when you really care about someone, you find a way to make it work. He's probably not used to having a hearing person to ask about. Draw...

What Are You Reading Right now?

I think us electronics junkies and sci-fi go hand-in-hand. Sort of like peanut butter and jelly. If you want a recc, look up Becoming Josephine, it just came out recently. It's about the Creole socialite who became an empress. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18079742-becoming-josephine

    Saying Hi and About Me

I'm a dog person as well, never cared much for cats. I think all of us HOH should have a dog around. We rely on them for a lot of things, chief among them to let us know when something is going on that we aren't aware of. I can't count the amount of times a dog has made me aware of a sound or...

    Saying Hi and About Me

Thanks! Is that a pomeranian? My stepmother used to have them, and they were great dogs. I grew up in the Arlington area and lived all over Jax in my teens and 20's (Southside, Northside, then Mandarin.)

What Are You Reading Right now?

Right now I'm in a sci-fi mood so I'm reading Up Against It by M.J. Locke. It's very good, actually. I tend to be picky with my sci-fi, it has to make sense and be realistic. After this book I'll probably go back to enjoying some historical fiction (Napoleonic era or Middle Ages, depending.)

    Back pain treatment?

Been going through back pain for over a decade and not much helps. Pain killers, of course, but I did get massage therapy and was amazed that it worked. Unfortunately the decreased pain levels only lasted for 3 days and the therapist could only see me twice a month. It's definitely worth...

    Anne Rice fans??? big news!

Been ages since I've read her books, but that should be an interesting read. At least we don't have to worry about any twinkly vampires.

    Saying Hi and About Me

Yes, I was accused by some teachers about my selective hearing, and family members as well. They don't realize it's entirely an art form at this point and cannot appreciate it. "Matt, do the dishes" sounds remarkably like, "Matt, ignore the dishes."
