    Hi. It's been awhile!

WBHarley: I was the same way, I had hearing aids in both ears all my life and loved it. So, that's what I want now, with CI's. I wore my HA on my non implanted side but it feels like I'm hearing barley anything due to the CI working so well. My audi said it was normal, happens to alot of her...

    Hi. It's been awhile!

vallee: You asked a great question! I never thought of asking. I'll ask the surgeon/audiologist 'bout how hard it'd be to get two CI's to work together esp a year apart from each other. :)

    Hi. It's been awhile!

Well, my first two test scores were like 100% and 85% because it was my audiologists voice then for the test where I scored either 54% or 45% she used a recording, of a male voice so that was harder for me. And I was not able to lipread my audiologist even if I wanted to 'cause the windows makes...

    Wearing Glasses and CI

Hi. I have a CI, the Freedom by Cochlear. I wear glasses only when I'm driving & stuff like that and it doesn't interfere in any way at all. So your daugher will be fine wearing hers with her future ear processors. For now she will be using the platinum processor, which should be no problem...

    Hi. It's been awhile!

Hi. It's been awhile since I was here last. I had my late 6 mos CI mapping apt at the end of Jan. My audiologist wanted me to do a series of 3 sentences test and I did awesome! Except the last one, I scored 54% or 45% [don't remember which] and it was cause it was a man's voice via recording...

    Does CI person need interpreter?

It's up to the CI'er, only the CI'er would know how well s/he can hear to get by in the classes without interpreters or not. Even though I am doing really well with my CI, if I was back in school - I will still request interpreters for all classes because I want to be on the safe side, still...

I saw it before it was captioned & had no problem understanding you or the Audi. I'd smile when she said "How about now. . ." lol. :)

    CI in the future?

I struggle with the decision to go bilateral. In a way, I want to go ahead and go bilateral, but in another way in the back of my mind, it's telling me to wait til technology improves but by then I'll be 40-45 and I've already been deaf since birth. I got my 1st CI at 28 yrs old last May. I'm...

    CI moving?

VamPyroX: You had me laughing - I yelled out "yeah right, that's pure bullshit!" by accident & my husband, who is hearing, is working & on the phone and they heard that. Hahaha. :D Then I read down & thought to myself "I knew it was BS!" Heh. :D

    CI moving?

I see that vallee answered your question. But I just wanted to let you know that the numb feeling you have your head is not from the pain medication, it's actually from the OR team numbing the area where they're planning on cutting you before they do the actual cut so that it doesn't hurt you...

    CI Moments

Thanks! Growing up while doing homework if TV is on, I could always tell what's coming on next without looking up to the TV, becuase I'd recognize the theme songs at the start of the show even if I didn't understand the whole lyrics to the theme song. Like for example- Fresh Prince of Bel Air...

Oh and one more thing, as for you knowing that your child will be hearing & want to know on the signing issue. I have two hearing children and I worried about this too. Shut up and sign!!!!

I have two hearing children, and they both know some signs, but they prefer talking to me because they know I can hear and understand them so well without having to sign, but they do know signs & are learning new signs everyday for emergencies like when I lost my voice, when I can't wear my...
