Personal Audio Cable for one CI and one HA

The T-coil setting is available on any of the four program slots on the Freedom which is a small advange over other makes. You need to press both buttons on the bottom of the Freedom to turn on the T-coil. I use this method at work with a audio loop in the floor so that I can hear the phone...

For CI users who also wear a HA

I use a hearing aid on one ear and the CI on the other ear. I need both ears working if I was going to hear music. If I had a major change in the maps I will also change the hearing aid programing to match with the CI. I have not found a situation where turning the hearing aid off is better.

Personal Audio Cable for one CI and one HA

I just use the T-coil in my hearing aid and the T-coil in the CI with a inductor plates or a pair of music links to hear the sounds or music. I will then adjust the volume control on the hearing aid to match the T-colil pickup with the CI T-coil.

The Nucleus 5 like all other CI external processors are still are not completely waterproof. Showering with all the chemicals, oils and conditioner will gum up the works and the microphone covers can be be pluged up as well. However the Nucleus 5 with the rechargeable battery is likely to...

I disagree with this CI surgeon predicting stem cells in 15 years

I can not take very serious anyone making comments like' CI may require regrowing a new cochlea(a 20+ year wait) Pulling information out of thin air to support his opinion.

    Nucleus 5 brochure

The micophones are a bit better sounding as I was told by poeple that have upgrade to the Nucleus 5 from the Freedom. The Nucleus 5 is a bit better in noise since the Nucleus has a zoom feature that the Freedom does not have. Thats what I have heard.

If you were Deaf for 10+ years then implanted

I was born HOH and worn hearing aids all my life. At first with the CI the high frequencies sounds were very sharp and piercing. It takes time for the nerves and the brain to be able to handle the signals loads that it has not been expose to for a long time. At the six months timeline I was able...

Cochlear Implant with earmold or without

I have a skeleton ear mold made of hard plastic to hold it in place. When I was a kid I had plastic surgery on my outer ear to keep my BTE from failing off the ear even with a ear mold. The surgery was not a complete success but it helped. I have my skeleton mold made to give me the most air...

    Phonak buys Advanced Bionics

It is hard to say but maybe Phonak is a better match since Advanced Bionics was sold previously to Boston Scientific but the owner did not like the way things ran and brought the company back. If I was already a AB user I would not worry about it. If I was geting a CI at this time I would look...
