You can do a registry hack to let 32-bit recognize 4 GB, but it still can't actually utilize it. Only thing you can do to actually make it useful is get 64-bit Vista. Registry hack is not needed for people running Vista SP1 as it already recognize full 4GB.

I am very familiar with these stuff. I already ordered four DDR2 PC6400 2GB modules (I got four slots). I just wanted to find out which is latest info for my XPS due to conflicting info on many websites.. I got offical specs from Dell which thats all I needed. :D

Me either.. Its my first personal Dell desktop, but also owned few dell laptops. Also using work Dell desktop and laptop. Never had any issues with them.. I like their OS CD.. No key needs and works on any dell PC plus no junks on it.

You could try, but problem is, there is big risk assocated to this 0% rate.. If you are LATE, even one day in payment, your rates go default as high as 29%.. Make sure you can make the payment few weeks before due date. I did that couple times with 0%, it did helps, but focus on paying off...

I have no debt.. Just paid my last furniture payment last month.. I still use credit card for gas/food/general stuff but pay it in full each month.

I got correct type with correct CAS timing specs. It should work.. All memory websites I checked only showing max of 1GB per slot which is not updated info.. It can do 2GB per slot with latest BIOS. I dont buy cheapest brand, I only buy well known brand.

I never said I was having slow computer.. I am happy overall performance (except for file transfer speed which is known vista issue).. I just want to increase from 4GB to 8GB so I can run Virtualbox which I can run XP, Linux, another Vista within main OS for software testing.. Running few...

Finally got official info from Dell.. It support max of 8 GB for now.. I just ordered four 2GB module from newegg..
